Alpine swift colony


Together with scientists from Swiss Ornithological Institute our research group have ongoing study on breeding and migration ecology in Alpine swifts (Tachymarptis melba). The study colony is situated in the city center of Sofia, Bulgaria. 
The investigation is possible through the courtesy of National centre for information and documentation (Bulgaria), Patent office of Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian institute of metrology in which building the colony is situated. 


This is not an alien, it is a very cute fledgling of Alpine swift (Tachymarptis melba)

The alpine swifts have strong and very powerful legs, contrary of the thinking that they "don't have legs".
